Providers

How has C4K supported providers?

Providers met in a combined meeting on 03/22/22 with Parents of Preschoolers for an Italian Meal and a guest speaker form the University of Nebraska Extension Service – Holly Hatton-Bower presented on “Screen Time for Young Children”
Providers who attended received one hour of professional development credit to help meet licensing standards.
This meeting replaced the March 17th meeting that was scheduled for the provider’s group.
In August, Communities for Kids put together gift baskets as a thank you to the Ashland-Greenwood Area childcare providers for their important work with our Ashland-Greenwood area children and families.
Gallery Walk
In September Communities for Kids hosted a “Gallery Walk” for the current providers in the Ashland-Greenwood Area. Ten of the eleven current Ashland-Greenwood area providers were represented. The evening consisted of current providers discussing the most common barriers that are hindrances to their childcare businesses. The picture above is our “JC Penney’s Pose”, this is a resourceful and fun-loving group.

During our gallery walk evening each provider was able to express their thoughts and ideas for the following topics:

  • Early Childhood Dream
  • Early Childhood Capacity
  • Provider Resources
  • Family Needs for children 0-5
In November, Brandee Lengel from Nebraska Early Childhood Collaboration, came to talk to providers and share with them the many resources they have available to support their early childhood businesses.

In January the providers began working on a project to benefit all the current providers in Ashland-Greenwood. They are putting together theme boxes with early childhood activities, toys, and games that can be checked out by local providers. If you have ideas for themes or would like to donate new or gently used items to be used in these theme boxes, please contact us. Monetary donations are also being accepted for this project. Please use the donate tab, if you would like to donate towards this project.

The provider group met in February and decided to work on book bags for providers to check out from the library. The book bags will have a book with corresponding activity ideas. Most providers agreed they would use these book bags more than the theme boxes. Providers talked about solutions to finding subs for their businesses, preparing taxes for their businesses, and transportation of children to and from their home businesses. The next provider meeting will be on March 17th, 2022, 6:30-7:30 at the home of Darcy Carey.
